EN14470-1:2023 was prepared by CEN/TC332 "Laboratory Equipment" Technical Committee and approved by the European Committee for Standardization. The standard sets requirements for the structure, resistance to external fire, and fire performance of fireproof safety cabinets used in laboratories to store flammable liquids, clarifies the fire protection level and fire test requirements, and is currently one of the important standards in the field of safety cabinets in the world.

According to the time when the temperature rise does not exceed 180K in the fire test, the cabinets are divided into 30-minute cabinets, 60-minute cabinets, and 90-minute cabinets. A real fire test must be passed to meet the standard.

In the event of a fire, the safety cabinet should ensure that the items in the cabinet will not cause any additional fire risk or fire spread for at least 30 minutes. There are also detailed requirements for the cabinet door, that is, the cabinet door should be able to be fully and automatically closed from any position within 20 seconds from the time the cabinet door is released.

EN Flammable Safety Cabinet Features:

1. The whole cabinet is electrostatically sprayed, and the outer surface is corrosion-resistant, scratch-resistant and impact-resistant.

2. There is a gas circulation channel inside the cabinet, and there are 1 inlet and outlet vents on the top of the cabinet. The vents are equipped with automatic temperature sensing devices.

3. After passing the EN1363-1 fire resistance limit test, the highest temperature of the 14 temperature measurement points in the cabinet after the EN fire-resistant safety cabinet burns in the combustion furnace for 120 minutes is far lower than the upper limit of the temperature required by the international standard, meeting the EN14470-1:2023 standard.

4. The cabinet doors have passed the 40,000 reciprocating cycle opening and closing test.

5. The two cabinet doors are equipped with automatic temperature sensing and closing linkage devices. When the ambient temperature reaches about 50°, the temperature sensing device automatically works, and the cabinet doors opened on both sides can be automatically closed within 20 seconds.

6. It has its own inlet and outlet for air circulation, and can be connected to an external ventilation duct or circulating air filter. When the ambient temperature around the cabinet reaches about 70°, the temperature sensing device automatically works, and the two inlet and outlet flame arresters automatically close to prevent external fire sources from entering the cabinet.

7. The gap between the cabinet and the cabinet door is adhered with special fireproof, expansion and sealing materials, which automatically expand and fill the gap in the event of a fire, preventing external flames and heat from entering the cabinet.

8. It is standardly equipped with 2 adjustable shelves, and the cabinet can accommodate up to 5 shelves, forming 6 layers of storage space.

9. There are electrostatic grounding ports at the bottom of both sides of the cabinet, which can be equipped with pressure riveting screws to facilitate the connection of electrostatic grounding wires.

10. There is a forklift slot at the bottom of the cabinet, and the net height of the forklift slot from the ground is not less than 80mm. The base is detachable, suitable for small spaces, and easy to move and transport.

11. High-quality labels with good reflective warning performance and UV resistance are used. They comply with EN14470-1:2023 and EN ISO 7010 standards, making them easy for firefighters to identify in the event of a fire.
